So what are the advantages?
- Cost - The Internet is used as your connection instead of a long-distance telephone number or 1-800 service. Because the Internet Service Provider (ISP) maintains communications hardware such as modems, ISDN adapters, and T1/T3 connections, your network requires less hardware to purchase and manage.
- Enhanced Security - Connection over the Internet is encrypted and secure. New authentication and encryption protocols are enforced by the remote access server. Sensitive data is hidden from other Internet users, but made securely accessible to appropriate users through the Terminal Services environment. There are two very cost effective ways to implement your application via the web... Northwest Software's application hosting service and hosting it yourself.
- Northwest Software's Hosting Service - For those that do not have self-hosting capability or do not wish to take the time to manage their own server, even if they have the ability to do such, Northwest Software offers its own application hosting service. Our hosting service is unique in that our service agreement for application hosting is offered on a month-to-month basis (in lieu of yearly commitments) with a small one-time setup fee and small monthly charge. There are no charges for the months you do not use the service or long-term commitments.
- Self-Hosting - Is via the nonprofit organization setting up and hosting their own Internet application server. This means that the nonprofit has their own high speed Internet connection and hosts their own website in-house. The nonprofit is responsible for the setup and maintenance of the Internet connections and server. And depending on the organization's network configuration, the nonprofit gains both Intranet as well as Internet application access!
